Kendal is a professional equestrian with her Competition Coach Specialist in Eventing. She also has an honours degree in Biological Science at the University of Guelph. Her home base is at Reindalyne Farm in Uxbridge, ON. She helps run the farm with her mother Gwen. During the winter she travels to Ocala, FL for 3 months to train and compete. This is the heart of horse country and a great place to campaign to stay at the top of the sport. While Kendal’s main focus is Eventing, she also competes in Show Jumping and Dressage. She believes that to be the best in your sport, you have to cross train to get comfortable in the different rings and atmospheres. Kendal has competed at the CCI**** level in Eventing, 1.35m jumpers and Fourth level dressage.
Kendal was born and raised on a farm in Uxbridge and started riding as soon as she could walk. She got her first pony at the age of five, who she fox hunted and started pony club on. Through Pony Club she obtained her ‘B’ level and competed in Dressage, Show Jumping, Eventing and Tetrathlon; competed both nationally and internationally. However, from the start she was hooked on Eventing.
Kendal competed in her first event when she was 11 and has never looked back. She started competing at the international levels of Eventing in 2005. One of her major achievements was winning individual and team gold at the North American Junior/Young Rider Championships in 2006 on her horse Understudy. Kendal competed Understudy to the CIC*** level, Daily Edition to the CCI**** level and Totally Frank to the CCI*** level, as well as numerous horses throughout the levels both nationally and internationally. Gwen spent two years in England obtaining her British Horse Society II coaching levels. She then moved to the Toronto area where she worked at Aurora meadows starting Thoroughbreds for Woodbine Racetrack. While she was here she was also in charge of the treatments for over 100 horses including wound care, medications, bandaging, etc. She then went on to work as an Instructor at Leitchcroft for 6 years. This is where she met Rein. Once they were married they moved to Uxbridge and purchased Reindalyne Farm. The farm has grown over the years from a boarding facility and track layups to being a more specialized training facility for Eventing.
Gwen has had many top results at the CCI** level which landed her on the Canadian Eventing Long List and Talent Squad a number of times with her horse Daniel. She has ridden a number of other horses up to the Prelim level. Gwens love of adrenaline has also gotten her into Fox Hunting. She has previously been the Master of the TNYH Hunt Club. She is also an avid skiier! She has a need for speed!
